Carte Nav Solutions (Carte Nav), the company has 20 employees at the head office located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. CarteNav Solutions Inc. develops software and hardware solutions for maritime surveillance and security, Situational Awareness, mobile asset tracking and Telematics in the airborne, surface and underwater domains. Their areas of expertise include satellite voice and data communication, AIS (Automatic Identification System), GPS, wireless, open source software, server software, human interface especially for web applications, and custom hardware development.

The Challenge

Carte Nav’s growing business lines forced the company to expand it’s offices and provide customers with a office communications solution to efficiently route calls to the right contacts and offer more advanced features like voice mail to email for employees that are constantly traveling while maintaining the highest level of responsiveness. Line4 allows Carte Nav to offer customers the big company support and customer experience without the cost of a traditional phone system, which would not have made this possible. Lastly, because of the size of Carte Nav new system had to be both easy to administer and support, so that Carte Nav could reduce its reliance on multiple vendors and suppliers for system maintenance, which would be time consuming, expensive and resource intensive.

The Solution

After exploring options from a number of vendors, Carte Nav selected a solution from Line4 based on: Line4 IP PBX Gateways, Grandstream telephone sets, to deliver full-featured business communications for all 20 users (lines/stations). Line4 delivers a robust hosted solution complete with auto-attendant, voicemail, intercom, voicemail to email, and statistical reporting. Line4 manages this solution for the entire office in Halifax from our NOC located in downtown Halifax.

All support calls from Carte Nav come direct to Line4’s Network Operations Centre (NOC). Line4 manages the Telecommunications infrastructure, provides monthly support, and long distance, for Carte Nav. Carte Nav has the benefit of 30% savings on their previous monthly telecommunications costs.
